03/13/2007 | ORDER It appearing that respondent pled guilty in the Common Pleas Court of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania of Sexual Abuse of Children, Dissemination of Obscenity to Minors, Possessing Instruments of Crime, and Use of a Communications Facility, and having received a certified copy of the criminal docket showing the guilty plea of respondent in the Common Pleas Court of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and it appearing that one or more of the offenses constitutes a serious crime as defined by D. C. Bar Rule XI, Sec 10 (b), it is ORDERED pursuant to D.C. Bar Rule XI, Sec 10 (c) that the respondent, Charles C. Wright, is suspended immediately from the practice of law in the District of Columbia pending resolution of this matter, and the Board on Professional Responsibility is directed to institute a formal proceeding for determination of the nature of the offenses for the purpose of determining whether or not the crimes involve moral turpitude within the meaning of D.C. Code Sec 11-2503 (a)(2001). It is FURTHER ORDERED that respondent's attention is drawn to the requirements of D.C. Bar Rule XI, Sec 14 relating to suspended attorneys and to the provisions of Sec 16 (c) dealing with the timing of eligibility for reinstatement based on compliance with Sec 14, including the filing of the required affidavit. It is FURTHER ORDERED that Bar Counsel inform the court if the matter is resolved without the necessity of further court action. (ETW) | |||
03/13/2007 | ORDER It appearing that the court has received a certified copy of an order of the Supreme Court of Florida reprimanding respondent, it is accordingly, pursuant to Rule XI, Sec 11 (e) of the Rules Governing the Bar of the District of Columbia, ORDERED that Bar Counsel inform the Board on Professional Responsibility (the Board) of its position regarding reciprocal discipline within 30 days of the date of this order. Thereafter, respondent shall show cause before the Board, if cause there be, within 10 days why identical, greater or lesser discipline should not be imposed in the District of Columbia. It is FURTHER ORDERED that the Board is directed to recommend promptly thereafter to this court whether identical, greater or lesser discipline should be imposed as reciprocal discipline, or whether the Board, instead, elects to proceed de novo pursuant to Rule XI, Sec 11. It is FURTHER ORDERED that the Clerk shall cause a copy of this order to be directed to the Chair of the Board on Professional Responsibility and transmitted to respondent. (ETW) | |||
