If appellant is indigent, the district court shall have 30 days within which to appoint counsel for appellant. Otherwise, the district court shall order that, within 30 days, appellant must retain counsel and counsel must enter an appearance in the district court. Within 5 days from appointment or appearance of counsel the district court clerk shall transmit to this court a copy of the district court's written or minute order, and serve a copy of this order on appellant's counsel. Thereafter, counsel shall have 10 days to file a notice of appearance in this court. fn2[All filing deadlines shall commence to run from the date on which counsel is required to enter an appearance in this court.] 01-20063
12/17/2001Notice/IncomingFiled Notice of Appointment of Counsel. Certified copy of notice from Clark County Clerk filed in district court on December 12, 2001 enclosing a copy of minute order. Christina Hinds appointed as counsel for appellant on November 30, 2001. 01-21144
02/04/2002Order/ProceduralFiled Order. On November 30, 2001, we entered an order remanding this case to the district court for the limited purpose of securing counsel for appellant. That order also established that all deadlines were to commence to run from the date new counsel is required to enter an appearance in this court. On December 12, 2001, the district court filed a 'Notice of Appointment of Counsel.' Ms. Hinds shall file the notice of appearance within 10 days from the date of this order. Additionally, within the same time period, appellant shall file and serve either a transcript request form or a certificate indicating that no transcripts are requested, or show cause why sanctions should not be imposed. Finally, we direct the clerk of this court to mail a docketing statement to Ms. Hinds. Appellant shall have 20 days from the date of this order to complete, serve and file the docketing statement. We further remind appellant that the opening brief and appendix remain due to be filed by April 26, 2002. (Docketing statement mailed to counsel for appellant). 02-02276

04/12/2002Order/ProceduralFiled Order. On April 4, 2002, Ms. Hinds filed separate motions requesting extensions of time to file a notice of appearance, a transcript request form, and docketing statement. Because the notice of appearance was filed despite its untimeliness, we deny the motion to extend the time to file the notice of appearance as moot. Because the date requested in the motion to extend the time to file a transcript request form has passed without the form being submitted, we deny that motion as moot. Appellant shall comply with NRAP 9(a) within 15 days from the date of this order. We grant the motion for an extension of time to file the docketing statement. The clerk shall file the docketing statement received on April 4, 2002. Ms. Hinds has not requested an extension of time to file and serve the opening brief and appendix that are due by April 26, 2002. We elect to extend the filing date for the opening brief and appendix. Appellant shall file and serve the opening brief and appendix within 60 days from the date of this order. Thereafter, briefing shall proceed in accordance with NRAP 31(a)(1). 02-06550

12/22/2003Order/ProceduralFiled Order. Regarding Transcripts. On June 27, 2002, appellant filed an amended transcript request form that requested court reporter Dina Dalton to prepare and file the transcript for proceedings conducted on December 21, 2000. Our review of the opening brief and appendix indicates that the December 21, 2000, transcript is not necessary for a determination of the issues raised on appeal. Accordingly, we vacate those portions of our August 27, 2002, February 24, 2003, and October 27, 2003, orders that directed Ms. Dalton to file the December 21, 2000 transcript. 03-21203
