12/19/2001Order/ProceduralFiled Order. This appeal was docketed on September 27, 2001, upon the filing of appellant's proper person notice of appeal. On that same date, this court issued a notice directing appellant to pay the filing by October 8, 2001. On October 17, 2001, attorney Karen A. Connelly filed a notice of appearance as counsel of record for appellant. On November 6, 2001, Ms. Connelly filed a motion requesting an extension of time to file the docketing statement and the transcript request form. The transcript request form was filed on November 30, 2001. Accordingly, we deny that portion of the motion requesting an extension of time to file a transcript request form as moot. We grant the motion with regard to an extension of time to file the docketing statement. The clerk of this court shall file the docketing statement received on December 6, 2001. In the motion for an extension of time Ms. Connelly represents that on September 27, 2001, "the district court entered an order waiving the filing fee for the notice of appeal and authorizing Appellant to secure court appointed counsel." Accordingly, we waive the requirement for appellant to pay a filing fee for this appeal. Appellant shall file and serve the opening brief and appendix within 60 days from the date of this order. Thereafter, briefing shall proceed in accordance with NRAP 31(a)(2). 01-21384

02/26/2002Order/ProceduralFiled Order. On February 14, 2002, appellant filed a motion for an extension of time to file the opening brief and appendix and notes that at the time the motion was submitted, he had not yet received copies of the transcript requested in his November 30, 2001, transcript request form. On February 11, 2002, Transcript/Video Services filed in this court the transcript requested by appellant. fn1[We deny as moot, Transcript/Video Services' motion file on January 14, 2002, requesting an extension of time to file the transcript.] It appears that appellant has received the missing transcript. Further, because cases involving termination of parental rights are briefed on an expedited schedule, we grant appellant's motion for an extension of time to file the opening brief, in part. Appellant shall file and serve the opening brief and appendix within 20 days from the date of this order. Thereafter, briefing shall proceed in accordance with NRAP 31(a)(2). 02-03534

On April 25, 2002, appellant filed a motion requesting this court to strike respondent's answering brief or alternatively to strike portions of that brief. On April 29, 2002, respondent filed an opposition to the motion to strike. We deny appellant's motion to strike. On April 25, 2002, appellant submitted the reply brief. In light of this order denying the motion strike the answering brief, we direct the clerk of this court to file the reply brief.
