The effective date of respondent's disbarment should be December 31, 2005. Thus, depending upon when the Court acts on the Board's recommendation, the effective date of disbarment could extend beyond the usual 30 days. The Board assumes that by agreeing to an effective date of disbarment of December 31, 2005, Bar Counsel is satisfied that respondent's continued membership in the Bar for a short time poses no danger to the public. Accordingly, the Board recommends that the court enter an order disbarring respondent effective December 31, 2005.

11/03/2005	Filed	DISBARRED ON CONSENT On consideration of the affidavit of Dennis M. O'Keefe, wherein he consents to disbarment from the Bar of the District of Columbia pursuant to Sec 12 of Rule XI of the Rules Governing the Bar of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, which affidavit has been filed with the Clerk of this Court, the report and recommendation of the Board on Professional Responsibility with respect thereto, and Bar Counsel's letter dated October 6, 2005, taking no exception to the report and recommendation of the Board on Professional Responsibility, it is this 3rd day of November, 2005 ORDERED that the said Dennis M. O'Keefe is hereby disbarred by consent effective December 31, 2005. The effective date of respondent's disbarment shall run, for reinstatement purposes, from the date respondent filed his affidavit pursuant to D.C. Bar Rule XI, Sec 14 (g). The Clerk shall publish this order, but the affidavit shall not be publicly disclosed or other wise made availble except upon order of the Court or upon written consent of the respondent. The Clerk shall cause a copy of this order to be transmitted to the Chairman of the Board on Professional Responsibility and to the respondent, thereby giving him notice of the provisions of RuleXI, Secs 14 and 16, which set forth certain rights and responsibilities of disbarred attorneys and the effect of failure to comply therewith.
